Until the 1960s, table manners and dining etiquette was part of a the American education system. Children who exhibited good manners were a reflection of their parents’ superior “home training” skills. Charm schools taught the social graces, poise and table manners. Back -in-the-day these schools were especially popular for girls and young ladies because these skills were often used to judge their social status.

Good manners never go out of style

And in this fiercly competitive business business environment, etiquette provides the edge. Today, doing business in over meals and in various other social situations is very common. Also, very common, is boorish and impolite behavior.
